A 5000 watts inverter can power several heavy electronic appliances. The watts requirement of each household appliance should be calculated before you connect them to the battery. You can run Microwave, Coffee maker, refrigerator, toaster, computer, TV, Stereo, and Heater, etc.
What type of appliances can you run on a 5000 watts inverter?
The 5000 watts of inverters would produce 5kW per hour voltage to power the equipment. The energy is sufficient to power several high-end household appliances at the same time.
There are possibilities that you will not be able to use all of them at once. Choose one appliance at a time while connecting multiple devices at the same time.
You have to consider these two factors when using the inverter to run the appliances: starting wattage and running wattage.
When you start the equipment, the appliance may require more power than indicated on the package.
The extra energy may require for few seconds, but it is essential to start the appliance.
Base on these figures, you can decide which appliance you can connect to the inverter at the same time without surpassing the maximum limit.
List of appliances you can use on the 5000 Watts inverter
- Coffee Maker (1000 watts)
- Microwave (1000 watts)
- Toaster (1200 watts)
- Refrigerator (1200 watts)
- Computers (150 watts)
- TV (250 watts)
- Stereo (300 watts)
- Ceiling Fans (140 watts)
- Electric Heaters (1200 watts)
How many batteries do I need to run a 5000-watt inverter?
Before you decide the number of batteries, you will need to power the inverter. Several other factors need to be considered to ensure that you utilize the inverter to its maximum capacity.
The battery capacity, inverter voltage, the number of hours the inverter will be active, etc.
Generally, large-size inverters are used as emergency power backup. Calculate the number of hours the system will be run without failing.
Use the below formula to calculate the battery usage in the amps.
Number of hours x watts = total watts / volts = battery amps
The 5000 watts inverters would require a 450 to 500 ah 12V battery. Or you can use two 210ah 12V batteries. The system will run for approx 30 to 45 minutes.
A 750ah 12V battery would require if you are willing to run the inverter for at least 1 hour. The 2500ah battery would take around 4 hours to discharge completely.
Use the two similar size batteries to increase the capacity to its 100% level.
How many amps is a 5000-watt inverter?
The 5000 watts inverter could draw about five amps of energy. Several external factors may cause the loss of energy and the overall performance of the inverter.
What will a 5000-watt inverter run?
The DC to AC power inverter is an efficient way to convert energy to a useful power source. When the DC to AC is passed through the system, the power inverter will output a standard household 120-volt alternating current.
The 5000 watts inverter could produce adequate energy to power a wide range of electrical devices.
The appliance with the input level of 42.5 amps would power the various types of equipment using the DC to AC power inverter.
Some manufacturer of the inverter offers the external connection for the hardwire. You can connect the inverter to the primary power source and wire directly to the main panel box.
The advance hardwire option offers the full range of 12 volts and 24 volts 5000 plus wattage DC to AC power inverters.
How To Find The Right Battery Inverter Size?
Selection of the right type of battery inverter size could be a daunting task. The lower capacity may reduce productivity, and an excess amount of energy may increase energy loss during production hours.
Therefore, selecting the proper size inverter is essential.
Firstly, you have to decide how much power you require to run household equipment.
Once you have the list of the total number of appliances and the wattage requirement, the next step is identifying the modern inverter that can produce a sufficient amount of energy to power all the equipment.
The following guideline will help you to identify the exact wattage requirement.
1) Total Load Requirement
Choosing 5000 watts of the inverter to power the household equipment is sufficient. But you have to decide do you need the large size inverter of 5000 watts capacity. Remember that the inverter converts the DC to AC.
Inverters are not 100% efficient. 10 to 15 percentage of the energy will be consumed to run the core function of the inverter. This is the energy loss that you cannot use to power your devices.
Additionally, the DC to AC conversion would also decrease the energy efficiency, which leads to more power required to keep your appliances active.
You should list down all the household appliances and check the wattage rating provided by the appliance manufacturer.
Generally, the details on the wattage are mention on the package of the appliance. You can get the information from the official website of the manufacturer.
The product details will help you to identify the energy requirement of the product.
Add all the appliances to the list that you plan to run on the 5000 watts of the inverter.
Note that some home appliances such as refrigerators and air conditioners require additional energy during the surge hours.
When you start these appliances, the initial stage would require more energy. The inverter must have an additional energy supply to compensate requirement.
2) Find the input voltage:
The battery will have a different input voltage. Some inverters would have the 12V or 24V input. However, the high-end inverts may also come with the 36V, 48V, and 96V input.
Ensure that the battery you are using in the inverter matches the input supply.
The battery you connect to the inverter doesn’t have to match the inverter capacity as long as the total input is matched.
For example, the 48V inverter will work on the four 12V batteries without any trouble. The total number of voltage is matched with the input of the inverter.
3) Number of hours need to run the inverter:
Ask the question yourself? How many hours the inverter will be powering the home appliances. Are you going to run the inverter for few hours? Such as 5 to 12 hours. Or need an inverter that can run throughout the day.
The inverter capacity is calculated based on the hours the inverter is active and drawing the energy to the appliances. Based on these figures, calculate the number of hours the battery will perform.
The 5000 watts, 48V inverter may run for 6 hours when the power load factor is 0.8 and volt-ampere is 130 amperes. In this case, the battery must provide a minimum of 130 amperes.
A 5000W inverter could generate sufficient energy to power more than 5 household types of equipment without an additional power supply.
However, some appliances may need more power, so you may have to disconnect some of the appliances while using these appliances and then connect the required equipment to start.
